Necessary Evil

in Albanian Blogger, Personal on June 25, 2007

Just tonight I was watching a movie which I had watched before, titled “warlord” I believe! The movie is very fascinating to me because it portrays the life of an arms-dealer and all the different aspects of his business and relations with the people.

But what I had not been able to understand as clearly as I could this time, was the essence and truth of which the moviemakers had done such a great job of portraying. That essence of the life and work of this person was conveyed most clearly in the main character’s own words after being caught by the police and being accused of all the things that he was responsible for. His exact words were: “I am a necessary evil”! And to me that summed up the whole movie.

As I said, I had watched this movie before, but never so completely as tonight and thus it had been difficult to understand its true message. But beyond the life of this “warlord” the movie talked about the fact that major countries like the U.S.A., Britain, France, China, etc., are themselves the main dealers of arms and weapons, then in turn use these smaller arms-dealers to take care of their own business.
