I’ve never been to Gjinar, a remote village near Elbasan. But my friends have and they recently wrote a report on this village and about how the traditional market continues to function there as in the old days.

My very good friend Gjergj Erebara was there recently to write about it on the latest online media Reporter.al, but most importantly, the article provides a snapshot of the daily life of people using the local market where they all gather to do business and get what they need for everyday living.

In the day of modern markets and supermarkets, the “traditional” open-area markets are quickly fading away, but in such remote locations they continue to operate and “thrive” due to the low economic level of the areas and people living in them.

To me, this was very interesting as it help you get a better glimpse at how people have fared for centuries.
